Quilt Market Day 2

My mom and sister walked the show with me today. They are both quilters and sell their quilts at a little etsy shop called, shancee. They have been sewing forever, so they really appreciated all of the amazing talent. 

Riley Blake deservingly won BEST BOOTH AWARD!  They really go above and beyond in every way.

My new fabric line, SCOOT, will be out in January 2012.  Riley Blake told me it was a hit for presales at the show.  Love hearing that!

So, just one more way Riley Blake does it right...they threw an 80s bash on Saturday Night at The Depot, complete with 80s Cover Band.  Anyone who knows me knows it was hard for me to dress up, but I was brave!  They threw a great party and treat their designers and employees so well!

Quilt Market Day One

I stopped by the Quilt Market this morning in Salt Lake City, UT.  Riley Blake's booth looked amazing. 

Loved seeing the fun quilts and clothes made with Happier.  Jina from Riley Blake even made me a little "Happier Award"!

I love seeing quilt patterns made with my fabric and meeting the people that designed them. This one is from Quilt Story.

Happier Quilt by Amy Smart

Look at this beautiful pattern Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter designed using my Happier fabric line!  I just love everything about it.

Penny Lane - no sew fabric flower wreath

Hey All! It's Tiffany here, I'm so excited to show you a little bit today of what I've been working on. I've been getting some spring-fever relief from Deena's Penny Lane fabric from Riley Blake.  I'm loving these prints, and I'm so in love with the colors. Remember my fall wreath from this post?  Well, I decided my front door needed a little love.

I knew just what the remedy would be... a little Penny lane. I ditched the plate and the awesome Halloween brads on the burlap flowers and added some fresh colors.   I used the same type of idea from the Fabric flower bouquet from the previous post, minus the dowel stick stem. I glued them in place and added a few little bouts of lime green rick-rack to mimic some leaves. (PS notice the BEAUTIFUL bright blue sky on top of the snow capped mountains. It's an awesome day today. Hence the little more spring-fever. )
I wanted a variety of the frayed flowers and more of a finished edge. Like this pink one. I doubled my fabric and ironed it in half. Then, I followed the same steps as the frayed ones.
There you have it.

 

Penny Lane - no sew fabric flower bouquet

Hey!! Tiffany here! Happy Wednesday! Well, it's official. My valentine's flowers have come and gone and my kitchen table was in need of something. I decided my little house was in need of some SPRING colors.  What better to use than my stack of Deena's Penny Lane fabric from Riley Blake. Do you have yours yet? My goodness. So cute! Thanks again to every one who played during our giveaway. FUN Stuff!!
Ok, back to the flowers. I remember seeing a tutorial a while back with some cute flowers by Dana of Made.  I knew I had to make them, I've just been waiting for, well, the perfect fabric. Perfect Fabric? check.  So, using Dana's tutorial found here, I got to work.

I started by painting my dowel sticks a pale green color to match my fabric. Then, I picked out a few of my favorite prints. It looks like my flowers are a little more more full, I generally used half of the width of the fabric.  I kind of played around with them. I wanted them to be a little different, depending on the flower.I finished up by pouring some rice into my cute little white mug before placing my flowers.
Perfect. I'm loving my little table centerpiece. Can you sense the theme? I made a pedestal birdhouse, mini little bird's nest, and a plate stand with a beautiful antique dish (my great grandmothers), all placed on top of an antique doily (also from my great grandmother). Now, if spring would just come outside my house.

Christmas Advent Calendar: Love Birds

Hey! Tiffany again! Have you seen Deena's latest fabric line? Oh my goodness! I love it. I saw the fun reds and greens, and knew I had to make something christmas-y with it!  I was inspired by Pottery Barn's Felt advent calendar. I mixed some of the prints from Love Birds and some solid cotton fabric that I picked up at the fabric store.  I wanted to mix textures, so some of the pockets have rick-rack, fabric flowers, applique, buttons, and all of them have the numbers appliqued on. Have I mentioned how I love wonder-under?  Well, i do. :-)
  The pockets are filled with everything from granola bars, fruit snacks, hot wheels, to service ideas, and fun family traditions (ginger bread houses, watching the nativity video, etc)

The few appliques I used are coming soon to Deena's shop at Design House digital. Aren't the ornaments and boot too cute?  The font I used for my numbers is Century Gothic. I used Sure Cuts Alot and my cricut expression to cut the applique.

After having my first son, I found my kid crafts gravitating to the boy side. I find myself browsing looking for that perfect gift or toy. I think I found it. My son is completely OBSESSED with cars. In fact, it was one of his first words (I'm not kidding).

Wheels applique- Toddler version

Hi There, It's Tiffany from the Creative Team!

Everywhere I turn it seems there is a infant onesie applique tutorial. I love this. Now, that my toddler is no longer in onesies, I wanted to make it into my own version. Applique is a cheap, quick and super easy way to add a little spice to anything. Today I did one for my toddler. I got this cute little striped shirt on clearance ($1), ironed on the Wonder-under to the back-side of my Wheels fabric, removed the backing, and then ironed it to my shirt. To give it a little more finished of an edge I decided to do a simple zig-zag stitch around the bus cut out. I liked how the front looked with the Orange bus SO much, that I added the bicycle to the back. Happy crafting.

Quilt Market 2010

Coming to Quilt Market has been so exciting and enlightening.  Besides getting to be with Jen Allyson and Carina Gardner 24-7, I was able to get a better feel for the fabric industry.
